I painted this piece in October as a contemplation on branding and iconography. The store, its signage, and its products play on a sense of familiarity similar to that of a religious icon. Though one may conceive a gatorade differently than a holy dove, for example, grouping these items together may help the viewer to construct their own understanding of the role of brand recognition in their own life.
